My Naturopath
Drs. Bryan & Destia Skinner,
Cypress Naturopathic Medicine, 359 Middlefield Rd., Palo Alto CA 94301,
650-323-7345. Destia specializes in children's and women's health.
She will make home visits to do craniosacral adjustments of newborns of
current patients. Destia has worked as a midwife in Washington state so
knows a lot about pregancy/birth/newborns. She promises a high degree of
likelihood that she can help relieve pelvic pain during pregnancy. I've
also heard excellent reports about her helping children with eczema. Dr.
Destia helps keep me healthy and sane. Thank you, Dr. Destia!
Dr. Bryan helped me with horrible pine allergies using the NET treatment.
It was classic: I walked in there with horrible allergy symptoms and walked
out symptom free. After having bad February allergies for 14 years,
I've now been symptom free for over two years. Thank you, Dr. Bryan!
And Arlene at the front desk is always helpful and fun to talk with.

My Dentist
Dr. Richard Evans, DDS. 14501
S Bascom Ave. Los Gatos, CA 95032 408-371-4050. He does outstanding restorative
work, i.e. crowns, etc., and he was able to diagnose and treat a painful
condition that two other highly recommended dentists missed. Dr.
Evans also specializes in holistic removal of mercury amalgam, and can
refer for some IV chelation followup treatments. This is a top notch
office, with a commitment to good pain relief and customer satisfaction.
The staff are amazing . . . always pleasant, cheerful, and doing their
best to make your dental appointment something you can look forward to.
Ha, Ha! Kristen Wharton, RDA, is at the front desk, and Raphaela Nyblom,
RDAEF, and Elena Ungureanu, RDA, are the excellent assistants in the treatment
rooms. I don't know Olga's last name, but she's their hygienist,
and she is very tolerant of me. I think I might be a little "high
strung" in the dentist chair, but honestly, I've never bitten anyone!
My Endodontist
Dr. Jeffrey Krupp, endodontist for root canals - 3994 S. Bascom,
Ste. 5, San Jose, 408-371-1444. His anesthesia and technique are
so good that you leave there feeling like you could do it all over again.
This guy is fantastic!!! He seems more holistic than many, i.e. careful
when he's drilling through mercury. Dr. Jeffrey Krupp has been a
lifesaver for me, making a special appointment to deal with my on-call
lifestyle!
My Physician
Midori Nishimura, M.D., IBCLC,
Family Medicine & Lactation
1704 Miramonte Avenue, Suite 3, Mountain View, CA 94040, ph: 650-988-1800
OK, really and truly, I don't go to doctors.
But my clients seem to love Dr. Nishimura, and her office is located
very close, so I imagine that some day I will make an appointment.
My Cat's Chiropractor
Dr. Deb
Sell, DC, Adobe Animal Hospital. 4470 El Camino Real. Los Altos, California
94022 (650) 948-9661
My kitty (His Royal Highess, the Beloved Clary Beau) was a feral cat, "rescued"
from the streets around 2 years of age, fostered for six months, and then
adopted into my home. He had some kind of injury in his neck from
who knows what. When he was first brought indoors, he would bite
if you touched his neck, presumably because it hurt him so badly.
After two years of regular massage and amateur traction, he allowed me
to stroke him on the neck, but he sometimes acted as if he was still having
a little pain there. So when I discovered that our local animal hospital
had an in-house chiropractor, well, I made an appointment ASAP! Dr.
Deb was wonderful with him and was able to start working with him right
away, even though Clary's a little on the skittish side. Over the
course of our half hour, she was able to apply gentle traction to his neck
and loosen up the 3cm section of locked-up neckbones. He's a much
happier cat now, and if he didn't have to go in the car to see Dr. Deb,
I think he would want to go every day!
Tremendously Fun Activities
The Stanford Quads - Square dancing like you never imagined it!
This class is way more fun than you could ever imagine.
It's good exercise for the mind as well as the body, and
you'll be hanging out with some of the best and brightest
in the area. These are the really nice, friendly nerds. :-)
Stanford Quads was an offshoot of Tech Squares at MIT,
which was (and probably still is) hugely popular. I was
lucky to be dancing at Tech Squares and then started at
Stanford the same year as the Tech Squares dancer who
also went to Stanford and started the Stanford Quads there.
They had to move off campus when the '89 earthquake
damaged the beautiful dance hall on campus.
It's been some years since I've been, but I still remember
what tremendous fun it was, and I'm going to go back again.
I may even be able to find my badge somewhere.
(And it's not just any badge. It was designed by Scott Kim.)
This is "dancing" for people who like to move their bodies
but don't want to get stressed about having to come up
with original moves.
But the really fun part is that it is also transformations
on a matrix, where the dancers are the little pawns that
move around in response to commands from the caller.
And you get all mixed up, and the caller has to figure
out a way of getting you all back to your original positions.
It is fun beyond belief. Plus, they have snacks.
Summer is waning, but square dancing will keep the light
and sparkle in your life.
Be there or be square. Ha, ha . . . old joke.
Ukulele Club of Silicon Valley
The UCSV is all about ukuleles and
having fun. Instruments other than ukulele are welcome; however, the
ukulele is the medium. The message is to play some music, make some new
friends and have a great time with your old friends, learn some new
ukulele chords, strum and sing new songs, eat some good food, have a few
drinks and enjoy traditional ukulele entertainment. Hopefully it will
be an educational, fun, and very rewarding evening.
